Ipamorelin Research Guide

Comprehensive research information for laboratory professionals

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) and the first selective growth hormone secretagogue. It was developed through a major chemistry program to identify GHRP-receptor agonists lacking the central dipeptide of GHRP-1 . Researchers study ipamorelin for its ability to stimulate GH release through ghrelin receptor activation without significantly affecting cortisol, prolactin, or ACTH. This selectivity makes it a "clean" reference compound for isolating GH-specific effects from the confounding hormonal responses seen with non-selective GHRPs.
